A turnaround season by Jacksonville University’s baseball program wasn’t enough to keep coach Tim Montez employed.
With an expiring contract, JU decided to part ways with Montez and end his 11-year tenure at the school, including eight seasons as the pitching coach and the last three as head coach.
Montez was informed of the decision late Wednesday, but JU issued no statement on his dismissal until the story broke on jacksonville.com Friday morning.
