The Jacksonville Classic on Saturday features two schools and two coaches with a little bit of history between them.
Though Jacksonville University (FCS) and Edward Waters (NAIA) play in different classifications, the two have met on the football field once before. In 2002, JU won 44-31.
The two coaches faced each other five years later, when Kerwin Bell, in his first game at JU, played at Bethune-Cookman, coached by Alvin Wyatt. The Wildcats and Wyatt won 31-17. Bell hasn’t forgotten.
